TasteRay

Hyper-personalisation at scale — a taste engine proven on consumers, sold as an API.

ActiveVisit →

TasteRay is a taste engine: emotional AI that understands why people want things, not just what they’ve clicked. The consumer concierge — free apps on iOS, Android and web that match films and series to who you are and how you feel — is the playground where the engine trains against real taste. The actual offer is the engine itself, sold to other companies as hyper-personalisation at scale.

The playground: a consumer concierge

The B2C apps recommend what to watch based on who you are and how you feel — not on what a platform needs you to keep watching. Angel investor Wiktor Żołnowski describes them publicly as “precisely recommending movies and TV series to thousands of users.” That is the playground’s job: thousands of live taste conversations that stress-test the engine every day, in public, before any client puts it in front of their own users.

The offer: hyper-personalisation at scale

Two B2B lines carry the engine out of the playground. The TasteRay API turns context in any format — a conversation excerpt, a preference list, an unstructured profile — into personalised recommendations with human-readable explanations of why each pick fits: one call, 25+ verticals from movies and books to travel, electronics and real estate, with self-serve pricing, a public roadmap and installable skills that plug the engine straight into AI agents. ForMe embeds the same understanding on any product page to answer the one question that decides a purchase — “Is this for me?” — through a short, emotionally intelligent conversation that matches the visitor psychographically and ends in a personalised verdict, or a better-fitting alternative. Integration is one line of code.

Investment thesis

Recommendation is the power position of the AI era, and it is currently held by parties whose incentives oppose the user’s. An engine that understands taste at the level of emotion — and proves it in public, on its own consumer product — becomes infrastructure for anyone who sells choice: commerce, media, culture. The concierge de-risks the engine; the API and ForMe sell it, per request, at scale.

Michał’s role

Co-founder and CTO, alongside CEO Michał Wolniak and CMO Mariusz Labudda. Runs technology and the AI-assisted engineering workflow — ticket to code, AI review, human approval — that lets a small team ship a consumer app and two B2B lines at platform speed.

Why we backed it

Angels publicly on record: Wiktor Żołnowski, Kamil Stanuch, Bartosz Majewski and Tomasz Karwatka — and the company is listed in the COBIN Angels investment portfolio; Żołnowski ties his decision to a multi-year conviction in hyper-personalisation. Consumer apps in market, API and ForMe live. Interested investors: start a conversation below.
