High Culture
Functional beverages optimizing cognitive performance and mental well-being.
High Culture is two things at once: a popular-science media brand about the brain — five editorial verticals written with PhD-credentialed contributors — and a functional beverage company, pioneering the “positive drinks” category, built on that credibility. Its flagship product, Mood, is marketed as the first functional alcohol-alternative drink in the European Union: GABA, reishi and adaptogens engineered for “relaxation without intoxication — and zero next-day consequences.”
Mood took over a year and a half of R&D with scientists and lawyers before launch, sells at a premium (129 zł per 500 ml), and its first run sold out — the shop currently runs a waitlist while the relaunch is prepared. High Culture is also listed among the startups of the foodtech.ac accelerator.
Investment thesis
Alcohol consumption is falling across the developed world, but the evening ritual it serves is not going anywhere. The category will belong to brands that are trusted on the science and clean on the regulation — exactly the two assets High Culture built first, before scaling the product.
