Unicorn VR World

Selected angel position — Michał holds shares received in exchange for mentoring and advising the founders. Unicorn VR World is a Warsaw VR studio born at a Kreft family dinner in 2019 — Jakub (CEO, developer) and Wojciech (COO, psychologist and academic lecturer) — building virtual reality that supports children’s neurodevelopment, education and wellbeing, with neurodiverse students at the centre. Theraply VR is the flagship, but it is one product of several. Crucially, everything the studio ships is evidence-based — its effectiveness rests on international research and meta-analyses as well as the studio’s own studies, run in collaboration with Polish universities and research institutes.

The flagship, Theraply VR, is an NCBR-backed therapy-through-play platform for children with special educational needs — autism spectrum, attention, motor skills, anxiety — pairing VR mini-games with a mobile app for specialists that lets them steer a session in real time and track each child’s long-term progress in clear charts. Around it the company has built a whole ecosystem: Strefa Ciszy VR, a relaxation and emotion-regulation app live on Meta Quest; Poland’s first certified VR Therapist Course, with 510+ trained specialists in the community; complete school deployments — headsets (as an official Meta Quest distributor), apps, training and a year of supervision; LoopLearningXR, an EU-funded app for students with intellectual disabilities that won the Horizon Europe XR4ED open call; and the “Magia VR” book.

The validation trail is unusually dense for a company this size: winner of PFR’s Szkoła Pionierów (2020), NCBR BRIdge Alfa R&D financing with Aligo Alfa on the cap table, a place in Meta’s “Impact is Real” campaign, Sebastian Kulczyk’s InCredibles mentoring programme, and an EU Horizon XR4ED grant. The platform reports 6,200+ sessions across schools, with 250+ specialist profiles and 590+ student profiles (2026, founder-reported); exports have started with Lithuania, and in 2025–26 the team went through PARP “Startups Are Us” missions to the UAE, USA and Singapore, closing at BETT London 2026 with investor meetings.

Investment thesis

Special-needs therapy is capacity-constrained everywhere: too few therapists, too little time, exercises that children resist. Immersive, gamified, personalised VR attacks all three constraints at once. What makes Unicorn VR World more than an app is the full stack — a certified community of VR therapists, hardware distribution and school-wide deployments — a moat consumer apps in this space lack. Public research funding (NCBR, EU Horizon) and Meta’s spotlight add the credibility layer that matters when your buyer is a school.
