Artvis.ai
An AI advisor matching real, curated art to interiors.
Selected figures
Selected angel investment. Artvis was an AI-powered interior art & design advisor: it read your interior and turned it into personalised, curator-enhanced art-style recommendations, each linked to real, curated art you could buy, with a revenue-sharing model that supported the artists behind it. The startup has since wound down.
This one is listed for the record. Backing tools that translate taste into real art remains part of the thesis.
How it worked
You uploaded a photo of your interior, or started from any other inspiration. From the room’s style, colours and vibe, the model generated distinct, matching art-style recommendations, each with the education built in: why this style fits this space. Styles could be remixed with extra context (incorporate the dog, go darker, go bolder), and every one linked to real, curated art available for purchase. Styles were made to be shared, because buying art is a social decision, taken with partners, family, sometimes friends. On the roadmap: styles inspired by real curators, adding a human layer to the machine’s taste.
Business model
Revenue share with art marketplaces and galleries, later directly with artists. Subscriptions were under consideration, as was a platform/API offering for galleries, interior-visualisation and home-staging companies.
Traction, 2024
A web prototype tested with 200+ users generated 1.5k+ styles, with 35%+ of users returning to an early prototype and 20%+ of new users arriving referred. Testers repeatedly asked when the MVP would ship. Prototype figures are founder-reported, from 2024.
Investment thesis
The online art market splits in two: mass-produced décor prints pushed through social feeds and general marketplaces, and five-figure investment pieces sold by high-end art platforms. Between them sits a widening gap: buyers tired of ad spam, knock-offs and counterfeits, keen to learn, hang real art and support artists. Artvis bet on the entry point to that gap: taste translation, from a photo of your own room to art you would buy. The gap is still there.
